Rachel Notley, Alberta鈥檚 Premier, stated that there must not be any unwarranted federal setbacks with regards to the construction of pipelines, which will see the transportation of oil and/or gas to international markets.
Notley declared: 鈥淲e鈥檙e just going to continue to work hard to make the case for why all of Canada needs this pipeline or a pipeline to get to tidewater and then a decision has to be made. We just can鈥檛 dither on this for a lot longer.鈥
Even with First Nations, environmental groups and politicians opposing pipeline projects, such as Enbridge鈥檚 Northern Gateway pipeline and Kinder Morgan鈥檚 Trans Mountain expansion project, Notley said she will continue to relay the reasons as to why it鈥檚 important Canada has a pipeline to transport its oil to ports, which will then be sold to international markets.
She explained: "Frankly, if I was in the federal government, I would not shut down any of my options until I knew I had one option that's successful. But that's me.鈥
Notley hopes to meet with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau soon, upon his visit to the Calgary Stampede.
