The Uganda-Tanzania crude oil pipeline is set to begin construction in January 2017, the Ugandan Energy Minister, Irene Muloni, stated.
Muloni also relayed that Uganda and Tanzania had both come to a consensus to fast-track the pipeline project, which will travel 1443 km.
Muloni stated: "Every activity in respect to the project will be done in a fast tracking mode. We have agreed to meet in Tanga (Tanzania) in October this year to launch the front-end-engineering-design for the project.鈥
The pipeline is set to export Ugandan crude oil to international markets, and is scheduled for completion in 2020.
