With over a week to go before the International Marine Contractors Association鈥檚 (IMCA) Annual Seminar takes place at London鈥檚 Landmark Hotel, it has already broken all previous records, with over 500 delegates from 30 countries registered. Additionally it has nine sponsoring organisations, 34 exhibiting companies, and the seminar is endorsed by 14 organisations.

鈥淲e are delighted to have reached the 500 mark and have now reached capacity so put up the 鈥楽OLD OUT鈥 sign,鈥 says Chris Charman, the association鈥檚 Chief Executive. 鈥淲e certainly have a highly relevant and topical theme in 鈥榃here next for the offshore marine industry鈥 and a superb line up, including keynote addresses by Malcolm Webb, Chief Executive of Oil & Gas UK; Massimo Fontolan, of Saipem, IMCA鈥檚 current President; Judith Hackitt, of HSE; and Mr Daiji Zhang, Executive Vice President of CDSA (the China Diving & Salvage Contractors Association) with whom IMCA has recently signed an agreement.

鈥淔ormal presentations are being given on Marine, Diving, Offshore Survey; Remote Systems and ROV, as well as Competence & Training and Safety, Environment & Legislation issues. And both days feature Workshops on such varied topics as DP FMEAs, Diving system FMEAs, Shared sensors: ROV/Offshore Survey; Learning from incidents; Key DP personnel: dilution of skills; DP incident reporting; Subsea lifting & rigging; Live high voltage short circuit testing; Competence assurance 鈥 15 years on; and Exploring the deep post Macondo. The Workshops are an invaluable aid to planning our future work programme on behalf of members.鈥

Networking plays an important role at all IMCA events around the globe, and the 2014 Annual Seminar is no exception. Delegates, speakers, sponsors and exhibitors are set to enjoy the welcome reception held the evening before the conference begins; the 鈥楴ight at the Museum鈥 on 19 November when a reception and dinner will be held at the Natural History Museum.
