Total鈥檚 CEO dies in plane crash

Christophe de Margerie, the CEO of French oil company Total, has died in a private plane crash at Vnukovo Airport in Moscow, the company has confirmed.

Christophe鈥檚 corporate jet collided with a snow plough and was then engulfed in flames. All four people on board, including three crew members, were killed. According to Russian investigators, the driver of the snow plough was drunk.

In a statement released this morning, Total expressed its condolences: 鈥淭he thoughts of the management and employees of the Group go out to Christophe de Margerie鈥檚 wife, children and loved ones as well as to the families of the three other victims.鈥

The BBC reports that an investigation into the incident is now being carried out.
