Hillary Clinton says she will not take a position on the Keystone XL pipeline until she becomes President, citing her work on the issue as US secretary of state.
Clinton told voters in New Hampshire yesterday that she will not 鈥渟econd-guess鈥 President Obama鈥檚 pending decision on the pipeline. She said that would not be the 鈥渞ight thing to do鈥 because the government鈥檚 review of the project started during her tenure at the State Department.
Responding to a demand for a 鈥測es鈥 or 鈥渘o鈥 to the pipeline, Clinton said: 鈥淚f it鈥檚 undecided when I become president, I will answer your question.鈥
Two of Mrs. Clinton鈥檚 Democratic opponents, former Gov. Martin O鈥橫alley of Maryland and Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, have both said they oppose the Keystone project.

Senator John Hoeven, a North Dakota Republican and leading congressional supporter of the US$8 billion proposal, cited unidentified 鈥榮ources鈥 yesterday in predicting President Barack Obama will reject the pipeline proposal in August.
鈥淭he earliest we鈥檒l now see it, we think, is in 2018鈥 under the next US President, said Patrick Kenny, an analyst at National Bank Financial in Calgary.
