The rise of 鈥楻OV DP鈥�, the capability to hold an ROV (remotely operated vehicle) stationary in the water column, has led to an increase in the sharing of ROV-mounted sensors, for ROV positioning, imaging and survey purposes.

A workshop, organised by the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) during Oceanology International 2016 (OI2016), will discuss the opportunities and challenges arising from this shared use of sensors and consider the future for this developing field of technologies.

Taking place on Wednesday 16 March, alongside OI2016, the Workshop will be held in ExCeL London鈥檚 South Gallery Room 14. Coffee will be available from 13:00 and the Workshop will run from 13:30 until 17:00.

Jim Mann, Global ROV Manager, Fugro (IMCA Remote Systems & ROV Division Management Committee Chairman) will lead the workshop, supported by Sam Hanton, Vice President Survey and NASNet at Proserv (Member of IMCA Offshore Survey Division Management Committee).

Jim Mann and Sam Hanton will welcome delegates to the free-to-attend workshop. Speakers will be Tim Rhodes, Development Manager, Fugro Subsea Technologies on 鈥楽hared vehicle-borne sensors: ROV perspective鈥�; then Robin Longstaff, Survey & Inspection Manager, Bibby Offshore will give the 鈥楽hared vehicle-borne sensors: Survey perspective鈥� view; before Malik Chibah, INS Group Manager, Sonardyne turns delegates鈥� attention to 鈥楽hared vehicle-borne sensors: A sensor manufacturer鈥檚 perspective鈥�. After a coffee break, there will be a 90 min. discussion led by Jim Mann and Sam Hanton.
