Iran and India are in talks to build a subsea gas pipeline to export natural gas to India.

The pipeline would take natural gas from southern Iran via the Oman Sea and the Indian Ocean to Gujarat state in western India.

Managing Director of National Iranian Gas Export Company (NIGEC), Alireza Kameli said the pipeline would carry 31.5 million m3/d of gas.

Kameli also said Iran has already been in talks with New Delhi-based South Asia Gas Enterprise Pvt Ltd (SAGE) for building the 1400 km pipeline.

SAGE鈥檚 proposed pipeline would bypass Pakistan鈥檚 exclusive economic zone and could include a possible extension to Mumbai later.
